Reflecting on what message I’d love to pass to a younger me while jamming to my amapiano playlist in my workspace at my parents' house in Ilorin on a very chilled, rainy day.

Age isn’t the issue, awareness is.
What if you decide to listen to no one?
At 16, I thought I was too young to plan my future. I felt like life hadn’t even started, so why rush?
We’re often told to “wait a bit,” “have fun,” “you’re still young.”
But sometimes, that “wait” becomes forever and by the time we want to start, we’re stuck. I finished high school at 15 and had no clue what I wanted to do. Everyone around me was just going with the flow, and it felt weird trying to talk about dreams or goals.
But deep down, I knew one thing:
I didn’t want to end up like everyone else.
I just didn’t know what else was possible.
So I started small. I picked up copywriting at 19 (during a university strike), messed up a lot, and kept learning, then transitioned into UI/UX.
I realized that:
You’re never too young to start.
Age isn’t the issue, awareness is.
Time will pass anyway. The earlier you start, the better you get. Even if no one gets it around you, protect your vision. And if they won’t change, it’s okay to grow without them.
From someone who’s been there: You are not alone, and every step you take counts ♥️.
